Flooding at top of village – problem solved!
The blocked drain under the pavement, causing the overflow of water down Low Lane, has been cleared - by a local hero from Yorkshire Water! Shown here proudly displaying 3m of tree roots extracted from the drain.

Latest on housing application
At the meeting held on 16 March (see the draft minutes on the Minutes page of this site), the Parish Council approved further comments objecting to the housing application at the top of the village. See the letter of comments on
Newspaper deliveries
We have received a complaint from our Newsagent that newspapers are continuing to disappear from the telephone box. Please only take the paper you have ordered. The Newsagent loses money every time one goes missing and has to be replaced.
Littering at top of village
We have noticed an increase in littering at the top of the village. Please be vigilant, and if you see anyone disposing of bags of rubbish in any of the fields around the village, contact the parish clerk with details: parishclerk@draughton.org
Rats – Update
The rats recently sighted in the village have been tracked to a nest in the bramble growth to the rear of the village hall. Steps will be taken to trap and kill many of the vermin, and remove the brambles.
